First Priority After Registration: Not Funding — Security

Many people's first instinct after creating a Binance account is to fund it and start buying. But actually, the very first thing you should do is lock down your security settings.

Why? Because your Binance account will hold your funds. If security isn't properly configured and you fall victim to hacking or phishing, the losses could be severe.

First: Bind Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is the single most important security tool, bar none. Once bound, every login, withdrawal, and security change requires a 6-digit dynamic code that refreshes every 30 seconds.

Setup steps:

1. Download Google Authenticator from your phone's app store
2. Open the Binance app, go to "Security" → "Google Authenticator"
3. Copy the key displayed on the page (extremely important — back this key up)
4. Open Google Authenticator, tap "+", select "Enter a setup key," and paste the key
5. Return to Binance and enter the 6-digit code shown in Google Authenticator to complete binding

Special reminder: You must write down or screenshot that key and store it somewhere safe. If your phone is lost or broken and you don't have this key, recovering your authenticator will be extremely difficult.

Second: Set Up an Anti-Phishing Code

Phishing emails are one of the most common scams in crypto. Scammers craft emails that look identical to official Binance communications, leading you to fake login pages where they capture your credentials.

After setting an anti-phishing code, every real Binance email will include your custom phrase. If a "Binance email" arrives without your phrase, it's fake.

Setup path: Security → Advanced Security → Anti-Phishing Code → Set a memorable phrase.

Third: Set a Fund Password

The fund password is an additional password required for withdrawals, P2P selling, and other fund operations. Even if someone obtains your login password, they can't move money without the fund password.

We recommend setting a fund password that's different from your login password and avoiding simple number combinations.

Fourth: Complete Identity Verification

After security setup, the next step is identity verification (KYC). This determines whether you can deposit, trade, and withdraw normally.

Have your ID or passport ready and follow the in-app prompts to upload document photos and complete facial recognition. Review is usually fast — many people get approved within 10–15 minutes.

Fifth: Check Device Management

In security settings, you can see which devices are currently logged into your account. If you spot an unfamiliar device, remove it immediately and change your password.

Make it a habit to check periodically for any unusual login activity.
